HIV: Predictive Models of CD4+
Keywords:
VIH, teoría de la probabilidad, predicción, linfocitos T CD4-PositivosSynopsis
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) disease is a global issue that has posed challenges for molecular biology, epidemiology, and other medical specialties due to the absence of treatments that cure the disease and vaccines that prevent its development. These difficulties have required a multidisciplinary approach in the sciences to understand key aspects of both disease evolution and potential diagnostic, therapeutic, and prognostic considerations. Basic and clinical research has suggested an important role for monitoring markers such as CD4+ lymphocytes, not only because they are a natural target of the virus and indicate the progression of infection, but also because it has been proposed that this marker has prognostic implications for infected individuals. The main purpose of this book is to describe the application of physical and mathematical theories developed by the Insight group, particularly probability theory and set theory, to predict the behavior of CD4+ lymphocytes in people living with HIV, considering it as one of the biomarkers measured to evaluate disease progression, among others. To achieve this, general aspects of the disease and the development of immunology will be outlined, as well as the mathematical and physical fundamentals that support the development and applicability of these methodologies.
