Synopsis

This book seeks to shed light on some of the atrocities committed by dictatorships, particularly the dark chapters of those in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. Drawing from findings by both official and unofficial truth commissions, it also explores the recommendations made by these commissions to ensure non-repetition. Additionally, the book addresses a specific issue in Colombia, focusing on the dictatorship of violence prevalent in the country and how sexual violence has been and continues to be used as a weapon of war in committing crimes against humanity.

The text is structured based on the findings described in various truth commissions, both official and unofficial, and the recommendations these commissions made to fulfill non repetition obligations.

Finally, the text illustrates, in the case of Colombia, how sexual violence became a tool of war and the social consequences of such actions in Colombian society.
